DFW Odisha Saraswati Puja 2025 Memories

On February 2, 2025, the DFW Odisha Society gathered at the Ram Temple in Plano to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja. This year’s celebration saw the participation of over 70 Odia families, all coming together to pay tribute to Maa Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge, Wisdom, and Education.

The Saraswati Puja is an important cultural and spiritual event for Odia families, marking an occasion to seek blessings for academic and intellectual pursuits. The highlight of the celebration was the "Khadi Chuaan," a significant ritual where young children took their first step toward education in front of Maa Saraswati. This tradition, deeply rooted in Odia culture, involves the children writing their first letters on a piece of cloth, symbolizing the beginning of their educational journey.

The puja was performed meticulously by the temple priest, and families participated in the proceedings with great devotion. Every family offered flowers, fruits, and prasad to Maa Saraswati as a token of respect and gratitude. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of reverence and joy as everyone came together to celebrate the Goddess's blessings for wisdom and learning.

As a community event, the celebration was not just about prayers, but also about fostering a sense of unity and togetherness. Each family contributed to the occasion by bringing homemade vegetarian dishes, sweets, and other treats, creating a vibrant potluck lunch. This communal sharing of food added to the warmth and camaraderie among the attendees, making the event even more special.

The entire event was managed seamlessly by the DFW Odisha Executive Committee (EC), with Saswat Mohapatra leading the team. The efforts of the EC members ensured that everything ran smoothly and that all the attendees had a memorable experience.

To capture the essence of the celebration, our very own Dipak Mohapatra skillfully documented the beautiful moments through his lens, preserving memories of the event for years to come.

All in all, the Saraswati Puja at the Ram Temple in Plano was a grand success. It was a day filled with devotion, joy, and community spirit, and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The blessings of Maa Saraswati were felt by everyone, inspiring a renewed sense of learning and unity within the DFW Odisha community.
